How to use
When you want to say that something happens on a certain day of the week or in a certain month, you need to use the preposition в. After в, different grammatical cases are used depending on whether you are referring to a day of the week or a month.
- The accusative case is used for days of the week.
- The prepositional case is used for months.
How to form
Days of the Week (Accusative Case):
- For masculine and neuter nouns, the accusative case is the same as the nominative.
- For feminine nouns ending in а, change а to у.

Note: Вторник is the only day of the week where we use во instead of в before it. This is because it starts with the letter в followed by another consonant ("вт"), which makes it difficult to pronounce just в before it. Using во facilitates smoother pronunciation.
Months (Prepositional Case)
- Since all month names are masculine nouns in Russian, their endings change to -е in the prepositional case. In many examples, the stress of the word also shifts when declined.
